This picture of Mickey’s Diner in downtown Saint Paul is day 230 of Photo 365.

Tonight I went to the Minnesota Museum of American Art for an opening called “The Studio Sessions: Minnesota Artists of the 1970s.” There was such a vibrant energy in the space, I knew abstracts of people enjoying art was going to be my photo of the day. The problem was I couldn’t pick my favorite.
Many of the artists who were photographed working in their studios back in the 70s were in attendance. Their work inspired me to do the type of art I love most – creating photographs.

One of my challenges with business travel is finding vegan options on the road, and not pigging out on junk when options are limited and I’m hungry.
After a day of meetings, I looked down at my bland tasting gazpacho dinner and realized I needed a photo of the day. Usually I only like to show off food that was exceptional, but this is my real life – sometimes you can only find ill-prepared, mediocre food. If I can stay out of the mini-bar in my room, I will
consider it a successful trip, bad soup and all.

Dear Husband and I didn’t want to be inside tonight. It’s lovely out. And Smack Shack in the North Loop of downtown Minneapolis has fried green tomatoes for these two non-meat eaters. Patio seating was the only requirement, which they have plenty of.
