Lowertown tree

There is a new holiday tree this year in Lowertown, right smack dab in front of the Saint Paul Union Depot. I would say it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas on day 350 of Photo 365.

Cathedral Hill

Over the course of this Photo 365 project I have probably taken the most pictures of two structures – the Saint Paul Union Depot and the Saint Paul Cathedral. They are both close to home, easily accessible, and strikingly beautiful to me. This morning, as I sat at a stoplight looking at the building and clouds overhead, I realized I hadn’t yet captured the dominating immensity of the cathedral, towering on a hill that overlooks Saint Paul.

This is day 348 of Photo 365.

Minneapolis to Memphis

Highway 61: Minneapolis to Memphis opened on day 347 of Photo 365. The exhibit focused on the starkness, beauty, nostalgia and people along the great highway. Viewing a collection of Americana was a terrific way to spend a Friday evening.

Kerrygold

Tomorrow husband has a wine and cheese opening to officially debut photographs from his Highway 61 journey in the fall. I might have gone a little overboard on the cheese selection, but I never allow guests to go hungry. One of the cheeses that we’ll serve both in block form and in a fromage fort is Kerrygold, a sharp aged cheddar from Ireland. My mother introduced me to Kerrygold when I was a child. Her grandfather introduced it to her, and the love of this cheese has been passed down through the generations.

Highway 61: Minneapolis to Memphis is open Friday, December 13 at Never Mind Gallery in Saint Paul.

Magic bus

This putzy Metro Transit bus drove me crazy from Washington Avenue to 394 during the morning commute, and so I thought I would say thank you for driving so slow. There was no chance I could get into an accident.
