My office moved locations, and starting today my 15 minute commute turned into a 35 minute journey. I plan to listen to podcasts, audiobooks and enjoy sunsets like this one on my ride across the river.

On day 293 of Photo 365, we hauled over the state line to Wisconsin for two reasons: beer and the Green Bay Packers. We have a favorite place to watch the Packer fans in Hudson, Wis., but today husband and I took a diversion. Pitchfork Brewing Company opened in early August, and we wanted to see what the buzz was about. The taproom has a cozy bar with a handful of tables. Husband got the beer flight of five ales for $6, and I had the house homemade root beer. The one television at the end of the bar plays Packer football every Sunday, and when the Packers score, everyone gets a free 10 oz. Firkin. There is also a popcorn machine, and the restaurant next door delivers if you’re hungry.
If you are not a beer drinker like me, stick with the root beer. It is amazing.
If you google the word “pillar” you find descriptions such as, “a post that holds up something” or “an architectural element.” There is even a Christian rock band called Pillar.
In Lowertown this type of pillar is everywhere. It holds up overpasses, parking ramps and even the walls of our loft space. It served its purpose in an industrial era and I’m happy so many pillars have been preserved along with much of this neighborhood.

I have that great girlfriend who is my complete opposite, but when we get together, we laugh, tell each other our deepest secrets over a glass of wine, and are more honest with each other than anyone else. You know – THAT person in your life. Tonight I was with my bestie at a new Saint Paul restaurant called Seventh Street Social. She did happy hour food – shrimp tacos and onion rings, which looked to be deep fried in a salt and pepper batter. Yum.
The kitchen of Seventh Street Social is day 287 of Photo 365.
One of my absolute favorite things to do is to put something in the crockpot on Sunday mornings. Dear husband bought five pounds of organic garlic for me recently, and that meant I HAD to break out my favorite garlic soup recipe. It has 44 cloves of garlic in it. Needless to say, after roasting the cloves and then placing them in the crockpot with onions and thyme to simmer all day, the house smells amazing.
Forty-four cloves of garlic saturated in black truffle oil, olive oil, salt and pepper were part of my day 286 of Photo 365.
