After spending a wonderful few days in New York City, the scene out the plane window above Minneapolis made me question my residential choice. Just for a second.

One of my favorite up and coming artists is Adetomiwa Gbadebo, a young painter originally from Abeokuta, Nigeria who now calls Saint Paul home. His passionate inspiration comes from art, love, justice, peace and all things that man can do to rise above.
In this series Adetomiwa chose to use black as his predominate color because to him, black is beautiful, and he hoped that by using it, people would no longer be afraid of what the color can signify in American society.

On the Friday after Thanksgiving, First Avenue and 7th Street Entry host The Replacements Tribute show, which husband and I try to attend every year. It’s gotten to the point where we see old friends that we only run into at this event. The music is local and tight, and the group that goes on last always plays the theme album of the night. Tonight was special for me because the evening was in honor of Hootenanny, the album that holds the first Replacements tune I ever heard. We danced with friends we hadn’t seen since the last ‘Mats tribute and reveled in the greatness of the music.
