Bus abstract

Metro Transit
I went looking for an abstract tonight. The light was bouncing off frozen streets and the fresh snow gave everything a glow.

The problem? I actually had two abstracts I liked. This is the runner up for day 35 – a blurred image of a Metro Transit bus barreling through downtown to make all of the green lights.

Finding Nemo

Our hosts for the Super Bowl had a fish tank with Nemo! I apologize for the grain; the light wasn’t the best. But a real live Nemo felt worthy of the spotlight, regardless of the photo quality.

This is day 34 of Photo 365.

Forever Saint Paul

Lowertown, Saint Paul Union Depot
Volunteers are currently putting together an enormous Lite-Brite mural inside the Saint Paul Union Depot in an effort to break a Guinness World Record for Largest Picture Made by Lite-Brite. The work of art, titled “Forever Saint Paul,” was designed by Ta-coumba Aiken, a well known and respected artist in Lowertown. The project will launch the Forever Saint Paul Challenge, a $1 million grant for the best idea of making the city of Saint Paul greater than she already is.

Anyone in the community is welcome to come to Union Depot until February 15 between the hours of 12:00-8:00 p.m. to help install lights into the mural. The official lighting ceremony is at 7:00 p.m. on February 16 at Union Depot.

These volunteers and Lite-Brite pieces are day 33 of Photo 365.

Paper negative print

iPhone reflection
The first black and white photography class I took required everyone to make a paper negative print on the first day. It was easy, and a good way to introduce the basics of the enlarger to students.

Catching my reflection on a white canvas reminded me of those days in the darkroom, and I reenacted what I typically look like when taking a picture with my iPhone for this project. It also had an “E.T. phone home” feel about it.

This is day 30 of Photo 365.

Striiiiiiiiiiike

Over the past few days we’ve had all-staff meetings at the office, which means meetings, presentations, goal setting and objectives. After all was said and done, we had a little fun at the Ran-Ham, a classic 1950s style bowling alley in Saint Paul, Minn. The lanes broke down on occasion and our balls disappeared into oblivion a few times, but we had fun. I’m fortunate to work with good people. And they like to bowl, which is a bonus.

This is day 29 of Photo 365.

Saint Paul Saintly Cat Show

Saint Paul
The 37th annual Saintly City Cat Show opened during the Saint Paul Winter Carnival this weekend. The show is one of my favorite Winter Carnival activities, mostly because of the characters you meet of the human and feline kind. This cat owner was no exception.
