Spilled paint

On the edge of the Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary, located east of downtown Saint Paul, there is an abandoned building that has become the canvas for vandals. Within the last few years, someone tipped paint cans over the side of the building, letting paint drip down in splendid color.

Bandit ballerina

Altered Esthetics in Northeast Minneapolis was open tonight for a quick art stop. This music box was beautifully painted on the outside, but I liked the masked dancer the best. Art by Damon Rowley.

Wet Paint

Today I stopped in Wet Paint, my favorite art supply store in Saint Paul. I was looking for an illustrated book a local artist had told me about, but I took the opportunity to roam past the racks of paint and breathe in the smell of art.

Drawing Circle

Lowertown Artists Gathering
Every third Sunday of the month, Ta-coumba Aiken and Lisa Mathieson host Drawing Circle at The Black Dog Coffee and Wine Bar in Lowertown Saint Paul. I have zero drawing talent, but the group is open and welcoming to anyone. I worked on photoshopping images, the gentleman next to me wrote poetry, and the rest of our community table drew. There were sparks of inspiration and good conversation with a side of coffee.

Joe

Eagan, MN
A co-worker on maternity leave came into the office today so we could meet her new son, Joe.

If this face is not love I don’t know what is. Happy Valentine’s Day!
